Distinguished guests, Ladies and Gentlemen, dear bowling friends,

On behalf of my presidium, I would like to congratulate the leadership of the Österreichischer Sportkegel und Bowling Verband and the management of Plus Bowling with the organization and hosting of the 1st European Senior Championships. It is their love for our sport and the friendship that made this possible.

The very first edition of the ESC will be hosted in Vienna. All Europeans know Vienna and our bowling family loves to go to Vienna be it only for the city and its hospitality.
I am convinced that the Austrian Bowling Federation together with the ”Landesverband Wien” will do everything to make this ESC in 2020 the best championships ever organized. We do not have to worry about their friendship and hospitality, because that is impecable.

The only thing the players have to do is promote our SPORT to the best of their abilities and ENJOY. The ”travelling crowd”, the family, friends and supporters that are travelling with the teams to Vienna, I do wish them a wonderful competition and enjoy the city and see how our ”seniors” are still able to promote the game of Bowling and that they are true representatives our their national federation.

I hope to meet you all in Vienna.

The European Seniors Championships 2020 in Vienna, hosted by the Austrian Bowling Federation, will be a premiere for all participating athletes and officials. As president of the Austrian Sports Organization, which represents the interests of sports both in Austria and in international organizations, I am very glad that the Austrian Bowling Federation was honoured by the European Tenpin Bowling Federation to host this event.

The Austrian Bowling Federation has organized many international bowling events in the past years, e.g. the European Men Championships 2012, the European Youth Championships 2013 and 2019, the European Women Championships 2016, the European Champions Cup 2017 and the European Senior Bowlers Championships in June 2018 with 1000 players.

I want to give a very warm welcome to all athletes, officials and accompanying guests from 24 countries who will come to Vienna.

I wish the organizing committee of the European Seniors Championships all the best and exciting competitions to the audience as well as to the athletes! May you all achieve your goals! I hope all of you will enjoy these days in Austria and remember your stay in our beautiful country well for a long time!
